Senior Commercial Interior Designer
Location: Richmond, VA
Salary: $93,000–$107,000
Position: Full-Time
Relocation: Partial assistance available
Work Model: On-site initially, transitioning to hybrid
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Interior Designer to lead interior projects across a variety of professional and institutional environments. This is a senior-level opportunity for someone who can manage the design process, work directly with clients, and provide guidance to junior designers.
Please note: Commercial interior design experience is required. Residential-only experience will not meet the requirements for this position.
What You'll Do:
- Lead commercial interior projects from early planning through construction.
- Manage programming, space planning, and existing-condition assessments.
- Develop and oversee construction documentation.
- Guide furniture, material, and finish selections.
- Prepare and deliver client design presentations.
- Coordinate project activities during construction.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Mentor and support junior design professionals.
- Contribute to repeat business and future project opportunities.
Main Qualifications:
- Professional experience in commercial interior design is required.
- Strong background in space planning and programming.
- Experience producing and managing construction documents.
- Knowledge of furniture, finishes, materials, and specifications.
- Experience supporting projects through construction administration.
- Ability to independently lead projects and coordinate multiple priorities.
- Strong client-facing and presentation skills.
- Experience mentoring or guiding junior designers.
- Interest and ability to progress into greater leadership responsibility.
- Must be able to work full-time from the Richmond office for the first six months.
- After the initial period, schedule transitions to 3 days in office / 2 days remote.
